Your target audience is the demographic of people most likely to be interested in your product or service. This group of people will all have something in common, such as culture, age, gender, race, demographics, interests, attitudes, or needs.

Identifying your audience can help you to develop effective marketing strategies to bring in potential customers and clients. By knowing what the people want, you can sell your product or service online and see real results.

Here are a few examples of a target audience:

  • adult children looking for help with elderly parents
  • pregnant mothers wanting to learn about breastfeeding
  • African-American women over the age of 40 wanting to further their careers
  • female athletes in high school looking for college scholarship opportunities

When determining your target audience, consider your product or service. Who are you trying to reach? These people are your target audience.

Once you have determined who your target audience is, you will need to study that group of people. Ask yourself these 3 things:

  1. What websites and social media platforms do they use most? This is where you will need to build your social media presence.
  2. Where do they do must of their online shopping? You will need to advertise your product, service, or business ads here.
  3. What colors and fonts do they consider attractive? These are the colors and fonts you need to design your website, logos, and product packaging.

As a business owner, you have to ensure the products and services you sell are top quality and provide a solution for the problem your customer has.
